Wyong Council Libraries hosting events that show elderly residents how to navigate in today’s digital world.

Over the next month Wyong Shire Council Libraries will be hosting a number of events for older residents to assist them in leading independent lives and better connect with their families.

Council’s Library Services Section Manager, Ms Andrea Edward said these events help to support an improved quality of life as well as provide new skills in today’s digital world.

“With almost a quarter of our Shire aged over 60 it is imperative we tailor a significant portion of our events for our senior residents and we do,” Ms Edwards said.

Captel Captioned Telephone demonstrations: 10.30 am Wed 5th August Tuggerah Library and 10.30 am Fri 7th August, Bateau Bay Library.

“One of the highlights during August will be our demonstration of the new Captel Captioned Telephone, which displays your conversation word-for-word.

“This is perfect for anyone who has trouble hearing on the phone – if you miss something you can just check the captions!

“This will be a hands-on session where attendees will be able to also try out the phone to see if it suits them!”

Events to try the Captel Captioned Telephone will be held on Wednesday 5 August at Tuggerah Library or Friday 7 August at Bateau Bay Library.

Both sessions start at 10.30am.
