Central Coast’s Place in the Golden Age of Steam Remembered
Steam, history and railway enthusiasts alike will thoroughly enjoy Wyong Shire Council’s Libraries next author talk from train guru John Gaydon.
John will be visiting both The Entrance and Toukley Libraries to talk about his latest book Northern Exposures, which celebrates the last years of steam in New South Wales.
Council’s Section Manager Library Services, Ms Andrea Edwards, said this iconic publication combines incredible photography with personal accounts.

“John has travelled the world capturing the stories and images of the steam era,” Ms Edwards said.
“His latest instalment brings together the best of Australia’s railway photographers and features 299 colour images.
“The book kicks off with the Gosford-Newcastle line and also includes an image of the famous Cadet trains at Ourimbah.”
“The book is all about reminiscing and really highlights a time that continues to inspire generations.
“Come along to hear the stories, see the pictures and rediscover the golden age of steam.”
John will be at:
- The Entrance Library: Tuesday 11 August, 10.30am
- Toukley Library: Wednesday 30 September, 10.30am
