National Disability Insurance Scheme Rolls Out in 2016
Mrs Karen McNamara MP, Member for Dobell, is pleased to announce that after conducting successful trials, the Australian and NSW Governments yesterday signed an agreement for the full roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in NSW from July 2016.
“The NDIS roll out will provide certainty and lifetime support for the people on the Central Coast, and particularly in my electorate of Dobell,” Mrs McNamara said. “I am very pleased this agreement has been signed.”
The NDIS agreement will ensure people with a disability, their families and carers have a choice and control over their support. Mrs McNamara is adamant about how vital ensuring the ability to control where care comes from is for the clients who will be accessing the NDIS in Dobell.
“During my consultations, I have spoken to many people regarding the NDIS programme and reiterating how life-changing it will be for Dobell residents,” Mrs McNamara said.
“I have personally made representations to Senator, the Hon Mitch Fifield, Assistant Minister for Social Services, both in person and via written representations, about the importance of rolling out the NDIS on the Central Coast.
“Just recently, I was able to showcase the Central Coast’s outstanding disability services to Senator Fifield when he visited Dobell and discussed the NDIS with community members. I am pleased to advise all the community members who contacted me that we have signed the NDIS agreement.
“I, and this Government, are committed to making changes to ensure that people living with a disability have first class access to first class health care. The signing of the NDIS agreement is a major step in ensuring our promises are delivered,” said Mrs McNamara.
