Life Blooms at Seventy for This Local Artist
Central Coast resident Angela K Dennis will be holding her art exhibition “A Walk In my Garden’, at the Gosford Community Gallery from August 7-11, 2015, where she will be showcasing her paintings of floral art.
Angela draws her inspiration from nature and its amazing colours, simply by taking a photograph and then reproducing it on a canvas, with her art having a sense of realism.
“People will enjoy the amazing realism of flowers and fruit which will enhance their homes or offices, flowers have an immediate and long-term impact on happiness and well-being. Some people are unable to have the real thing and mine are the next best thing”, said Mrs Dennis.
“If I get one message across to everyone, it is that it’s never to late to live life to the full, I am living the creative life and loving it”, she added.
A Late Bloomer
Angela has always had a passion for gorgeous blooms but it wasn’t until she hit the ripe knowing old age of sixty-nine did she realise that it was time to unleash all of this beauty and grandeur in paint on canvas. I guess you could say she is a late bloomer
Her paintings of floral art features roses, frangipani’s, camellias, tulips, poppies, magnolias, water lilies and many other gorgeous blooms.
“Not many people after fifty years get the opportunity to rekindle a love, I feel so privileged to be able to paint and do it well, I am thrilled”, she said.
“Plus there is a certain urgency to get on with it hence the show and being able to say ‘I’m an Artist’, I paint slowly as I like realism”, she added.
For six years now Angela has been involved with Hospital Art, pictures are drawn on canvases and sent along with paint to Hospitals and Nursing Homes throughout NSW, they are returned and tidied up and sent back to be hung on their walls.
It was through this process that Angela realised that this wasn’t enough and she wanted to paint her own things and this was when she saw an ad showing they could teach you to paint enormous flowers and she knew then this is what she wanted to do.
Angela won an art prize for a gladioli painting at the age of twelve, passionately creating a flower garden in her home in the UK and creating beautiful floral arrangements at the local church, she knew then the joy and good cheer that flowers could bring.
