David Mehan MP Speaks Out On on the NSW Regional Unemployment Figures
David Mehan, Member for The Entrance has questioned the NSW Liberal Government commitment to the new “Jobs for NSW” package and Central Coast employment with the release of the NSW Regional Unemployment figures.
Last week the Baird Liberal government announced a renewed commitment to creating jobs for NSW on the eve of the release of the new state wide employment figures.
On the same week as the new jobs announcement the Baird government remained quiet while 34 electricity jobs were lost for the region ,and a further 1051 jobs where announced to be cut by energy companies across the state.
David Mehan said, “The NSW government have spent more time announcing their new quick fix than addressing the problems right in front of them.
“Since the Liberals came in 2011 unemployment has risen from 6.3% to 7.5% and the Central Coast has been hung out to dry.”
“The reality is that when it comes to employment, and it comes to jobs, the NSW Liberals are leaving the Coast behind,” Mr Mehan said.
