Applications for the ‘2015 Aged Care Approvals Round’ now open
Member for Dobell, Mrs Karen McNamara MP, has joined with the Assistant Minister for Social Services, the Hon. Mitch Fifield, in encouraging those providers in Dobell to apply for the available positions.
There will be 10,940 residential aged care places and 6,045 home care places allocated through the 2015 ACAR right across Australia.
“This Government recognises the need to invest in more aged care, as our population continues to grow,” said Mrs McNamara.
“23 aged care providers currently operate in Dobell and with an increasing ageing population, any of these providers could greatly benefit from the 2015 ACAR.”
“After a recent visit to Vietnam Veterans Keith Payne VC Hostel (VVKPVC), I have been able to further understand how some aged care facilities operate. Also, how aged care homes, such as the VVKPVC Hostel, work to provide not just a home but a sense of community for their residents,” said Mrs McNamara.
Up to $67 million in capital grants will also be offered as part of the 2015 ACAR, under the Rural, Regional and Other Special Needs Building Fund. The expansion of the Home Care Packages Programme continues with this round of ACAR, giving people more options to live independently in their home.
“This gives elderly residents in our community more choice and flexibility over the services they receive,” Mrs McNamara said.
